Do I Want to Make Money Online?

This blog is supposed to be about camping, right? Or RVing? After all, its name is For-Camping.com. Its tag line is “Info. and Opinion for and by Campers and RVers.” So what’s this about making money online?

Well, I guess it’s about being honest with myself. Deb and I really enjoy camping! We so look forward to hooking up the travel trailer and heading out for an adventure. Yep, an adventure, whether our destination is close [Continue reading...Do I Want to Make Money Online?]

No, I Didn’t Die!

One of the articles posted is “KOA charity event offers free night of camping in May.” It turns out that KOA has quite a number of KOA Care Camps for children who are being treated for or recovering from [Continue reading...No, I Didn’t Die!]

Whadayamean, my RV is at risk?

No, this isn’t a rant! I try not to rant. I don’t always succeed, but I try. This is more a statement of surprise that a company would spend money on print advertising that left at least this potential customer puzzled and frustrated. In my work-a-day world, I’m Operations and Marketing Manager for a software company. I’m interested in what does and doesn’t work in online marketing. So, I guess this is more an open letter to the company in question, asking “Am I missing something [Continue reading...Whadayamean, my RV is at risk?]

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a loon?

Every year during our week at Mi-Te-Jo Campground, we hear the somewhat mournful cry of the loons that live on the lake. If we’re lucky, we can look out on the water and watch, at a distance, a lonesome loon calling and fishing for dinner. This year, for the first time in our experience, what we thought was a family of loons swam right by our site. [Continue reading...Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a loon?]

Our favorite Campground

Do you have a “home” campground? That’s how we think of Mi-Te-Jo Campground in Milton, New Hampshire. We’ve been going to this campground every year for (could it really be?) at least eight years! Maybe longer. Now, the interesting thing is that Mi-Te-Jo is only a few miles from our Barrington, NH home. At first it didn’t seem far enough away to be “going camping.” We went there initially because some good friends wanted to try [Continue reading...Our favorite Campground]

Another Camping Disaster

Deb and I are not yet of retirement age, but we’re getting close. Like a lot of others, both young and not-so-young, we know we could use a bit more exercise. So, before we left on our June outing to our favorite campground, we decided that bicycling would be a great, fun way to get around the campground and burn those extra calories.

We typically come in and set up on the Friday before Father’s Day [Continue reading...Another Camping Disaster]

Camping Disaster!

…this is a reminder to check everything you can prior to each camping trip. It could save you (or me) a lot of grief and a disappointing camping [Continue reading...Camping Disaster!]

How to be Knotty

Whether you’re a tent camper or drive a big RV, every so often you just have to grab a piece of rope and tie something down…or up. We all know there are lots of different knots and that using the right one for a particular task is a good thing. But can you always remember what knot to use and how to tie it?

Me either! But I found this neat web site called I Will [Continue reading...How to be Knotty]

Gettysburg – Battlefields and … Orbs?

I’ve had one experience in my life that convinced me (or pretty close) that something happens after a person passes on and, at least right afterwards, some interaction with people left behind is possible. It was an experience I choose to hold private but, as I noted, it was pretty convincing.

When we hauled our travel trailer down to Gettysburg last year, we were aware that the area is considered one of the most haunted places [Continue reading...Gettysburg – Battlefields and … Orbs?]

THAT’S Your Sewer Hose?

We were spending a few nights in an RV park in the midst of Pennsylvania’s Amish country. The folks in the big Class A rig next to us were delightful people with an equally delightful little Golden Lab puppy named Autumn. Autumn’s “dad” noticed the little 3/4″ hose running from our travel trailer’s sewer outlet into the park’s sewer pipe and wanted to know about it.

So I explained that it is called the “Sewer Solution” [Continue reading...THAT’S Your Sewer Hose?]
